This is not one of my normal DIY posts, for sure, but it IS a type of DIY! I just discovered this Canadian company yesterday where you can customize your dining set! I noticed this new store a few months ago but hadn't taken the time to drop by until yesterday. I was very impressed with what I seen! Here are some facts:
Canadel has been operating since 1982 but had been only available through retail furniture stores, as one of the many companies the store would represent. Moncton, NB (my city) became the first city to have a Canadel-only retail store! How exciting is that! They have opened a few more Canadel-only stores since then and continue to remain in general furniture stores all over North America. Visit their website to find a retailer near you! Before I show you how you can 'do it yourself' with this company, let me clarify. This is NOT a sponsored post. I gain nothing from this. I am simply doing it because I want to share my discovery with my readers. Custom well-made solid furniture at the same prices as the regular pressed-wood options you see everyday at furniture stores is something to shout about in my humble opinion! So. Let's get to the fun stuff . . . designing your own furniture! You can visit their website, browse through the different lines, choose one and then customize it to your tastes with different wood finishes and different fabrics for the upholstery. I've done up a couple. Take a look! Here is what a typical design screen looks like once you've chosen a line. In this screenshot, I chose the Champlain line. The menu bar along the top is the available products in that line. The menu bar on the left is your selectable options for that product. In this screenshot, what you would do next is choose whether you want a round, rectangular, oval, or square table. Then, more options in your selected shape will pop up. And on it goes. Here is what I designed in the Champlain line: Here is what I designed in the Downtown line: What is so unique about the Downtown line is two things. One, the glass is coloured on the underneath and frosted and thus eliminates being able to see fingerprints and scratches. I was amazed! Secondly, the way you open and close the leaf is so easy that it only requires one person with one hand! It simply glides easily open and close! The leaf disappears under the table when not needed. Pictures do not do this set justice! Those are just two examples of many available. Once you design your set online, you can save it and either have the company send you a quote or your design or take your design numbers into your retailer and they can bring it up on the big screen there. Of course, you can also just design it all there in-store. They have samples of every wood stain, glass finishes/colours, and all the fabrics available. Its truly an amazing experience!
For my local readers, here is the address of the Canadel store. 1690 Mountain Road, Moncton, NB
