A Fresh Perspective had a busy year! Mostly on our own property but there were some colour consultations and we did do shed doors for my dad. The three biggest changes this year were to the exterior of our house, the baby barn transformation, and the kitchen renovation. Let's start off this blog post with the fun stuff . . . Before & After pictures! Before . . .. . . after!
Before . . .. . . after! The details: This house used to be my parents. We sold our big house in Moncton and moved here during the first week of February . . . during a heavy blizzard! My parents moved to a smaller house in the village less than 10 minutes away, just prior to us moving in here. Two weeks after we moved in, I had my wall mural professionally installed. Click on the picture below to be taken to that post. Plans for a kitchen renovation began right away. You see, we knew we were moving here several months before the actual move. We just had to wait for our other house to sell. Check out those early 2016 posts by clicking the buttons below. As you can see, the renovation stayed pretty true to the original design plan! The finished picture is pretty much just missing curtains, which will be made and hung in January. I already have the fabric . . . black & white buffalo check! (And the actual wall color is not yellowy like it seems to show in the photo. It is a beige that leans on the gray side.) June & July were spent on the exterior of the house. With building, staining, and installing new shutters and spray painting the exterior doors a new color, it was a huge change in appearance. Check out that post in the button below. August and September found us pretty busy outside, as well. We completely transformed the baby barn! We also got the side fence cleaned and stained. And lastly, we got new shrubbery. In September, I also put together a design plan for my mom's bathroom renovation (it is over halfway finished now but she wants to wait until it is completely finished before I do pictures). And, I designed doors for my father's new shed he built in September and Ryan & I built and installed the doors. Mom painted them. (I almost forgot! I spraypainted her house exterior door in July, also!)
In November, I painted my living room. I took a chance on the color and I'm glad I did. We all love it! We started the big kitchen renovation on November 1rst. The appliances, sink, and faucet all got put in on Christmas Eve!! It was a big job. Also on Christmas Eve, after the kitchen was put back together, I put the living room together. You see, it had been a multi-function room for the nearly 2 months the kitchen was apart. The fridge and small appliances were set up in there and it had overall been the drop off location for everything. It sure was nice to get my two main rooms back to normal! At the beginning of Christmas week, after the last coat of clear coat on the countertops, Ryan put up my new woven shades in the living room and helped me lay out the new rug. The new stuff had been sitting in corners still in factory packaging waiting for the room to be able to go back to its intended function. Check out those details in the link below.
. . . after! So that was my 2016 DIY year! Looking forward to see what all I can accomplish in 2017! Happy 2017!
