Anyone who knows me at all or has been a client of mine either through my business or through the retail paint shops I worked at, knows that I always highly advise flat paint for your walls. Only high quality washable or scrubbable flat paint, of course. And this is why . . .
In the picture on the left, the burnt orange wall, is painted with eggshell finish paint. The picture on the right, the beige wall, is painted with flat finish paint. See the ugly blemishes all over the orange wall and nothing on the beige wall? Both walls were equally ugly. The flat paint hides the blemishes!!
The walls were a mess. They were covered in "mountains and valleys". I had to use course grit sandpaper and go over every inch with my strong rotary sander to get rid of the mountains and then crackfill the valleys. I am SO not a crackfiller!! I work hard at it and cannot see nor feel any difference between the repaired spot and the wall but the paint proves me wrong every time. *sigh* Here are those walls after I painstakingly sanded them.
Even though I had my sander hooked up to the shop vac, it still left a big mess everywhere . . . including in my hair! Mom had to vacuum out my hair. LOL
For the accent wall, I had a full quart of Benjamin Moore Aura paint in eggshell finish sitting around so decided to save money and use it. It is excellent paint and I did two full coats on that wall no problem with that one quart but . . . its eggshell finish . . . which means a slight sheen . . . which shows up all those ugly places I tried so hard to crackfill and sand and make smooth and failed.
But. The room is done and I'm living with it.
And although you can't really see it in these pictures where I have my pillows leaning up against the headboard . . . I got a new bed frame! You may remember the black faux leather sleigh bed style bed frame I had before? Well, this bedroom is much smaller than my previous room so I sold that bed because it was too big for this room. I was very pleased to find this one on Amazon. Yes, AMAZON!
It came within a week. It came in one big box and was very well packaged. It came with a racket tool to put it all together, too. It is very good quality and I am very happy with it. It sits enough above the floor to easily put storage containers under the bed. Although the mattress sits on top (no lip to set inside of), it doesn't slip around at all even without uncovering the provided sticky pads.
I have provided a live link to the US Amazon above. If you order through that link, I will get a small percentage. I thank you in advance. For Canadian readers, I do not have an affiliate link for myself so I do urge you to shop through this link provided below. The not-for-profit organization, The Humanity Project (that feeds the homeless, seniors, and working poor in the Moncton, NB area), will receive a small percentage of ANY sales through the link.
